Hear the passionate, dramatic music of the largest tango group in the country and learn to tango

LONDON – Purcell Room, Southbank Centre - Thursday 19th March 7:45pm: Equator Festival is proud to present The London Tango Orchestra and Tango Fever.  The orchestra is a real 'orquesta tipica' uniting leading UK tango musicians with players from Argentina and featuring the music of Piazzolla.

The musicians have performed tango all over the world alongside well-known tangueros such as Victor Hugo Villena, JosĂ© Colángelo, Daniel Melingo and Juan JosĂ© Mosalini.

The orchestra performs music from a rich repertoire of tango old and new, sharing its love of tango music and promoting Argentine culture in the UK through concert-dances (milongas).

Alongside classic tunes by Troilo, Pugliese, Di Sarli and D’Arienzo the event will feature tango dancers Rene Hellemons and Hiba Faisal from Tango Fever.

Before the concert there will be a free workshop, where everyone can learn the essence of tango with a workshop by Tango Fever, focusing on musicality and a clear understanding of the concepts of leading and following. This relaxed and friendly workshop will be active, social and teach anyone who wants to, to tango!

Caroline Pearsall, the Founder of The London Tango Orchestra “Dance to the classic tunes including those by Troilo, Pugliese, Di Sarli, D’Arienzo, and a host of others. Or sit back and relax listening to the melancholia of Piazzolla. We promise an experience filled with passion and drama!”
